Taupo Region offers a multitude of superb fishing opportunities for
every month of the year. There
are rivers, streams, large and small lakes, all providing
fantastic wild Rainbow and Brown Trout angling.

Summer
Season
(1st October - 30th April)
Summer
is the season of the insect hatch!
There is truly no better sight for an angler than that of a
wild trout rising to a dry fly.
Experience premium fishing conditions with crystal clear
water and native forest surrounds all on your back doorstep!

Winter
Season
(1st
May - 30th September)
Taupo
offers some of the best river fishing in the World, especially so
during the southern hemisphere's winter months.
Large numbers of Rainbow and Brown Trout run up the rivers to
spawn providing heart-stopping rod action on these hard fighting,
prime condition fish.
Standard
fishing methods are with nymph and wet fly.
The temperatures are generally cool in the morning clearing
to a mild day but rest assured the early morning rise is well worth
it!

Tongariro Raft Fish
The
upper Tongariro runs through a majestic gorge revealing the
area's volcanic history and rock structures.
The cliff valley and river edge is thick with native
forest and abundant bird life.
Enjoy the melody of a Tui's bird song whilst you
cast to large aggressive Rainbow and Brown Trout.

The
river pools are accessed by raft and fly fishing is done by
wading from the shore. (Boat fishing is restricted to the
lake).
There are a series of rapids, large fishing pools with pocket
water also on the menu. |
Book
a Tongariro Raft Fishing experience if you enjoy mixing fly
fishing with some white water and pristine scenery.
Season
opens 1st December and closes 31st
May. Bookings
recommended well in advance for opening and closing week
due to high demand.

Heli-Fish Experience
With
the use of local helicopter
pilots, we can access remote wilderness
rivers and streams. These
pristine waters in high alpine tussocks, or deep ravines cloaked in
magnificent native forest, is a sight that leaves even the seasoned
angler breathless with its awe and rugged beauty!

Highly
experienced helicopter pilots will take us exactly where we need to
go to encounter the wild Rainbow and Brown Trout that inhabit these
waters. The trout are wild and generally large and put up a superb
fight.

fishing requires good vision and stealth, along with essential casting accuracy, but the rewards will
linger in your memory for a life time!

availability, as access numbers to these unspoilt spots are

hiking. This trip offers the truly adventurous angler an opportunity
to fish a variety of rivers, streams, small and large lakes,
and river mouths. |
The
clear water streams and rivers in remote areas hold good numbers of
both Brown and Rainbow Trout. Dry flies perform well when insects are hatching however nymphs are
always reliable.
Small
and large lakes offer crystal clear water with large Rainbow and
Brown Trout cruising the shores and lower reaches of the streams
that run into the lakes. Insect hatches instigate superb still water activity for the skilled and
patient angler.
A
good level of general fitness is required for this type of fishing
as wading conditions can vary from easy to very difficult. A keen sense of adventure, casting accuracy, good vision and
stealth will gain best results.
A
range of wilderness packages are available (minimum 3 days) with
modest accommodation nestled in native forest.
